Didyma

Didim made a township in 1991.Didim is peninsula surrounded by the provincial limits of Muğla and the Akbük cove in the East,the Aegean Sea in the South and west and the Lake Bafa and the river Meander in the North.It is located 106 km from Aydın,53 km from Söke,73 km from Kuşadası and 110 km from Bodrum.The number of its inhabitants is 25.699 according to the census of 2000 and its area 300 km2.

Altınkum is the most important beach in Didim.Altınkum means golden sand and its sea and beach are inviting to you.The sea is very shallow for a long way out and so is ideal for children.The beach is located centre of town.Altınkum beach has blue flag which international means eco-label awarded for marinas or beaches Blue flag works towards sustainable development at beaches or marinas thourgh strict criteria dealing with water quality ,environmental education and information ,environmental management ,safety etc.There are some other beaches and coves in Altınkum.Didim-Altınkum is an excellent resort for those who seek for the sea,sun and sand.You can have a sun bath on golden sandy beaches,participate in aquatics in the coves where any kinds of such sports can be performed.When the sun start to set Altınkum gains a nerdish color.

Didim possesses a bed capacity of 15.000 in 200 facilities either certified by the Ministry or by the Municipality.Today’s Didim as rapidly growing holiday resort completely different than what it used to be 10-15 years ago welcoming large population of tourists with its beautiful beaches,ancient towns,culture,climate from all over the world.

The people in Altınkum are warm and very friendly.You can find many restaurants,bars,shopes along the sea side.Besides the sea and sun on one side and the endledd golden beaches on the other,historical and artistic wonders in everywhere.The Apollo temple of Didyma is one of the world historical wonders which located within the boundries of the village of Yenihisar.Priene and Miletos ,which are the historical places ,are 1 hour distanced from town center.Ephesus and Virgin Mary’s House, which are the most holly place for Christine people ,are just far away from Altınkum about 40 km. Didim is the most beautiful place which you can find the harmony of history and nature.

Didim Market:

Didim market is on Saturdays,you will find clothes, handbags, househlod goods,spices,Turkish delight etc.Didim Market also has huge fruit and vegetables section.You can find there fresh cherries,water melon,strawbery etc.

Saturday Market is really interesting place.When you go there,you can see Turkish culture , typicall Turkish people and hospitality.

For local transport ,you can use minibus from Altınkum to Yenihisar(market) and Didyma Apollon Temple.
